About Us
We’re passionate about practicing the most up-to-date, high-quality medicine you’ll find anywhere. We think about your health comprehensively and take the time to hear your concerns and treat you as a person — not a diagnosis.
Who We Are
At Direct Health Solutions, we are more than just healthcare providers; we are innovators and compassionate caregivers dedicated to transforming the way healthcare is delivered. Our team of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) are at the forefront of this change, bringing personalized, high-quality medical care directly to you.
Nurse Practitioners
Our Nurse Practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses with specialized graduate education, holding either a master’s or doctorate degree. They are licensed to diagnose and treat medical conditions, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, and perform medical procedures. In Alberta, they are regulated by CRNA, ensuring the highest standards of care.
Nurse Practitioners may work in various healthcare settings, but at Direct Health Solutions, they specialize in areas like geriatrics, mental health, pain management, and palliative care. They are proven to provide high-quality care to patients of all ages and are especially adept at managing complex conditions including mental illness, dementia, cancer, chronic pain, and palliation.

The Role of Nurse Practitioners in Your Care
Nurse Practitioners focus on a patient-centered approach, emphasizing preventive care, wellness, and patient education. They are equipped to diagnose and treat a wide range of health issues, making them an invaluable part of your health and wellness team. Their unique perspective often provides additional insights, enhancing the overall care plan. This role is particularly beneficial for patients without a primary care provider, as our NPs offer continuity of care and comprehensive management of various health conditions.
Registered Nurses
Our Registered Nurses are integral to our in-home care services. They bring expertise in health and wellness, conducting detailed labs, administering treatments, and managing chronic conditions. Their commitment to empathetic and thorough care ensures that your health needs are met with professionalism and kindness.
The Heart Behind Your Care
We believe that the strength of our services lies in the expertise and compassion of our team. Jessica Tsang, NP
Founder & Nurse Practitioner
My name is Jessica Tsang. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner and founder of Direct Health Solutions. My background in healthcare include critical care, internal medicine, mental health, home care, chronic pain management, education, and management.
My grandmother always told us how much she valued her independence and how important it was for her to live in her own home. As she aged, she suffered from medical issues that prevented her from leaving her home. Our family struggled to help her get the medical care she needed in the community including assessments, diagnosis, or even prescription renewals. This lack of medical care caused her health to suffer. One day, she was found unconscious in her home and that was the end of her independence. She was moved to a facility for the remainder of her life – a place she was never able to call “home.”
My passion for supporting others to maintain their freedom and independence stems from my experiences with my grandmother. I was not in the position to help my grandmother maintain her independence, but I use this experience to honour and support other seniors and people with limitations live as well as they can. I believe it is our duty as the younger generation to honour our elder’s wishes and support them to live the best quality of life for as long as possible. Wherever it is, I hope for everyone to live their days in a place they can comfortably call “Home.”

Shyla Johnstone, NP
Nurse Practitioner
Growing up on a hobby farm, my dreams of returning to a rural location one day made me realize that the person I wanted to be in that health care environment would be a Family Nurse Practitioner.
I entered the program dreaming of a time where walking down the street to do a home visit was possible and so am very honoured and pleased to join the team at Direct Health Solutions in providing mobile services to Albertans. Pursuing my Master of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner designation was also important because of my interest in each human’s individual story and because of my desire to be a part of care provision on a larger level. Combining medical care and the personal, holistic view of nursing care seemed to make sense.
I began my caring career 15 years ago working as a care aide and practical nurse throughout my nursing degree, getting the opportunity to work with individuals in their home and at end of life. Once becoming an RN in 2007, I moved to Calgary and proceeded to work in neurosciences for the next 8 years. During that time I also took time to work rurally in order to be beside my grandparents as my grandfather and great aunt passed away, to travel to work with children teaching English, and to earn my yoga teacher certification. I entered mental health in 2011 because I found that the connection with people was so important to me and knew that mental wellness is a challenge for us all at various parts of our lives. To this day I continue to work as an RN in mental health and am certified in psychiatric and mental health nursing by the Canadian Nurses Association.
When not working with clients, I spend my time with my sweet pup, handsome horse, or propelling myself through the mountains by foot, bike, ski, or boat. I love all seasons, hope one day to add hobby farming to my repertoire, and am excited to work with individuals and families in identifying and achieving their health goals
Hannah Neufeld, NP
Nurse Practitioner
During my 8 years as an ICU and Cardiology nurse, I realized just how important accessibility to healthcare resources is. This led me to my career change where I am now able to focus on primary care and bringing healthcare that people need and deserve right to their homes. I am very excited to be working with Direct Health Solutions to work with patients to help them optimize their health and work towards their health goals.
I understand healthcare is a two way street between the patient and practitioner, which can be tough to navigate at times given the current strains our healthcare system is experiencing. I know myself at times have felt like I am being rushed through the system and not receiving the time or attention I would like.
On top of my work with Direct Health Solutions, I also work with an Otolaryngologist in his clinic to help manage medical and surgical patients. My previous work experience as a registered nurse includes intensive care, cardiology, recovery room, flight nursing, and surgery.
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and traveling. In the past year, I have started horse jumping lessons which I am really enjoying.

Danielle Deutscher, RN
Registered Nurse
My name is Danielle Deutscher and I am an R.N. with a keen interest in preventative and integrative community care.
After completing a B.A. in Sociology from UBC in 2000, I completed my BSc in Nursing at University of Calgary in 2008. I have enjoyed working at various community health organizations in Calgary such as CUPS, the Alex (community health bus), naturopathic clinics, as well as the University of Calgary (Faculty of Engineering) as a Nurse Researcher. I also work as an RN at my husband’s clinic Balanced Health and Sports Therapy.
I love working for Direct Health Solutions because I consider it a privilege to spend time with patients of all ages in their own homes.
Michelle Louisy
Registered Counsellor
My name is Michelle Louisy and I am a Canadian woman with West Indian background and culture. I am a registered Mental health counsellor.
I have been in the field for about 15 years with experience starting with youth and now with families. Currently, I am providing mental health counselling to single women and women with their own families. I also have experience working with parents that have Children’s Services involvement. Currently, I am trained in CBT, DBT, EFT and Compassionate Focused Therapy. I am certified in the Brain Story Series and Trauma-Informed Care. Overall, I aim to help others in whatever ways that I can, therefore helping people live their best life and achieve or get as close to achieving the goals they set out for themselves.
Judy Jansen
Queen of Administrations
My name is Judy Jansen. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, but moved with my husband to Las Vegas, Nevada after our wedding in 1993.
At the time, he had a nationally syndicated sports talk radio show there, hence the move south. And while Las Vegas can be fun, for us, it wasn’t the place to start a family. In October 1996, changes at his radio station made us reevaluate our situation and we decided it was time to come back home. That decision was two-fold; I wanted to be close to my aging parents and we both believed that Calgary would be a great city to start a family.
With over 25 years of executive administrative experience and a diverse array of companies on my resume (telecom, engineering, property management, hospitality and human resources), I always wanted to work with a company that valued people and in the business of serving/helping others. I hope one day to be a published author, but in the interim, my spare time is dedicated to family, a little ‘me time’, and trips to Banff for a nice walk by the river.
With my desire to help others and immense empathy, working at Direct Health Solutions was an obvious choice for me and I am so excited to be a part of this team! It has been such an amazing eye-opening experience to witness the positive benefits of medical home visits, especially for the elderly and mobility-impaired. I only wish I had met Jessica Tsang when my parents were needing that extra attention that she so proficiently provides.
